About Gail

I am a Southern girl through and through, born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. I am a wife, a mother of three big ole boys, sister, aunt, great aunt and a grandmother of two precious ones. Atlanta is the home of Coca Cola and Dogwood trees. I grew up eating Mama’s weekly southern fried chicken and smothered fried chicken at my Nannies house. Mama wasn’t a fancy cook and I am not either. We cooked basic delicious, good for you food for our families. After college, for the First time, I entered the pageant world. At the urging, of a church choir member, I entered the Miss Atlanta pageant and won talent, Miss Congeniality, and Miss Atlanta. I was off to Columbus, Georgia for the state pageant where I won talent, Miss Congeniality, and the state title. My next stop was Atlantic City, for The Miss America pageant. I was paired with an 18-year-old Miss Florida, Delta Burke for all our meals and interviews. It was a whirlwind year and one that I will always treasure. The last 35 years of my life I have lived in Alabama. I love it here. I’m in The Bible Belt and the Mayonaise Belt! Roll Tide is said often and Auburn is a healthy rival for Alabama football. My great love of cooking for those who I love has always been special to me. Home is the first place children are introduced to food. It is important to prepare healthy, delicious meals. In today’s world, most parents both work and it’s hard to prepare meals but that’s what crock pots and weekend cooking is about. There is nothing like home cooking My daddy didn’t like going out to dinner because he said, “ Nobody cooked as good as Mama”.
